Ways to Wear

We’re Dreaming of Wearing These 4 Picnic Looks

by Hannah Rose, Copywriter

With picnic dates starting to fill up the blank pages in our diaries and sunny days finally on the horizon, things are beginning to look up. And although we’re excited about longed-for hugs, girly chit-chats and delicious picnic food, we’re also seriously excited at the prospect of being able to wear cute outfits beyond our bedrooms. Yep, we’ve been dreaming of the moment we can reunite with both our friends and that ‘nicer’ section of our wardrobes.

So, now the sound of your bestie’s laughs, ice cream vans arriving and phone cameras capturing the first reunion is all within reach, it’s time to get planning those all-important picnic outfits. And important they certainly are. After all, we need to make a good impression for our first off-screen appearance. Whether you’re a dress or a jeans kind of girl, our influencers are here to provide us with the looks that are perfect for those upcoming park picnics.

1. Mood-Boosting Midis with @oliviaandalice

Making the transition out of your comfies might seem scary, but what if we said there were dresses out there that were just as comfy yet 1000x prettier (no offence, loungewear)? We’re talking about those floaty midis, of course. Olivia and Alice are giving us all the picnic vibes with dresses in mood-boosting shades, statement spots and ruffle trims. Like the girls, give them an effortless edge with a bucket hat and trainers for a look that screams ‘I haven’t even tried’. Now, we just need a picnic basket…

2. Jeans and a Cute Top with @alannanicolex

Jeans, remember them? Well, like Alanna, it’s time to whip them back out. Trust us, you’ll be glad you did. Who knew jeans and a nice top could work so perfectly for picnics as well as for nights out? Dress up your denim with cute check blouses in spring shades. Oh, and don’t forget accessories. We’re talking gold necklaces and straw bags that you finally have a reason to take outside. Hallelujah.

3. Feeling Good in Gingham with @phoebethearose

Pretty prints and park picnics go hand in hand. And we can just see ourselves sitting in the sun with a glass of prosecco in hand in this cute gingham smock. Perfect for the in-between British weather, this jersey midi is comfy, too, so you need not worry about overindulging on the cakes. Fabulous. Copy Phoebe and give it a preppy touch with frill socks and chunky trainers. Oh, and whether the sun’s out or not, sunglasses are essential.

4. Candy-Coloured Comfies with @oliviabynature

Not quite ready to give up your loungewear just yet? No worries. As Olivia shows, your comfies can work for picnics too *celebrates*. Just choose sweats in lighter shades that are more spring-appropriate (we’re talking candy colours, of course) and instead of pairing with joggers, make them park-approved with mom jeans. Complement with a bucket hat and flatform trainers for added feel-cool factor.
