How to Dress to Impress in Tricky Transitional Weather

by Millie Richardson, Copywriter

We’ve officially hit that time of year where planning your outfit can turn into a bit of a minefield – in the mornings it’s chilly and you can’t bear the idea of forgoing a cosy jumper or winter coat, but by the time the suns out, you’re clammy and regretting every decision made by a delicate, half-asleep you 🙄.

Throw a special occasion into the mix now events are back in full force and the whole getting dressed thing becomes even more complicated – is it time for short-hems and bare-legs? Will the heating be cranked on high? You get the picture…

So, to save you from any future outfit mishaps, we’ve put together four ways to dress to impress in tricky transitional weather, without skipping out on style points. From ‘70s-esque co-ords and celebrity-approved jumpsuits to jeans and a (really) nice top, your perfect looks for dinner dates, birthday parties, weddings and every plan in between are below… 💃

1. Play Dress Up

Spring is just around the corner (eep!) so we’re all for bringing out dresses again. But to stay on the safe side while temperamental weather is the norm RN, our tip is to seek out long sleeves and longer lengths – i.e. midis and maxis.

This seersucker frock ticks the box with its gorgeous mauvey pink hue – complement it best with gold accessories like metallic heels and shiny doorknocker earrings. Baby showers, birthdays and beyond here you come! 🥂

2. Double the Fun

Not only will an on-trend ‘70s flared co-ord give the impression you’ve made an effort without any actually required, but it will strike the perfect balance between breezy and covered up come a night out or celebratory meal.

The chocolatey hue, slinky fabric and ruched detailing give this set our vote. Style it up with statement accessories for added impact– think a zebra print shoulder bag and chunky chain earrings. Cute! 🦓

3. Power Pair

The famous jeans and a nice top formula is always a safe, stylish bet come in between weather and special plans. But how to give it a new season update? Start with our wide-leg Adalae jeans loved by the likes of Tanya Burr and elevate with a long-sleeve polka dot blouse in a nod to the monochrome trend.

For the finishing touches, take the ensemble into spring with pastel accessories reminiscent of your fave childhood sweets (Parma Violets, anyone?), before jazzing things up with diamanté chandelier earrings. Voila. ✨

4. One-Piece Wonder

Loved by celebrities and fashion influencers alike, midriff-baring, cut-out garms are flying off the shelves this season and giving wardrobes a touch of ‘90s nostalgia while they’re at it.

Whether for a dinner date or wine night, this frill-trimmed jumpsuit is a dreamy way to back the trend without sacrificing on warmth and can easily be layered with a leather-look blazer or trench. Accessories wise, choose a sleek white clutch and faux pearls earrings to bring out the vibrant pink hue. 💗
