3 Ways To Style Up Your Swimwear

If there’s one sartorial category that screams ‘summer ’ (other than gingham dresses, that is), it has to be swimwear. After all, it’s synonymous with jetting off on holiday and nothing evokes wafts of sunscreen and one-to-many cocktails besides the pool quite like it.
But with many of us skipping out on holidays abroad again this year, you’d be forgiven for thinking the sunny staple doesn’t deserve your money, attention, or a place in your wardrobe, right now. However, we’re here to (politely) tell you to think again.
For a while now, our favourite style stars – yes, that includes the Hadids - have been incorporating bikini tops, one-pieces and the likes into their everyday uniform. And quite frankly we’re obsessed with the whole thing. It’s a way of getting in the holiday state of mind without needing to set foot near an airport or beach bar. Plus, it’s seriously ideal for days you want to catch some rays.

One of the easiest ways to elevate swimwear for the day-to-day is with a pair of denim shorts. But, of course, we’re not going to tell you to leave it there. Because we’re all about going to town on an outfit when we can.
So, for your next swimwear-meets-denim combo, we suggest embracing all things 90s. Start by picking a bikini top in a tie-dye print - we love the pretty pastel shade on this scoop-neck one – and a matching bucket hat. Then, tap further into your nostalgic side and opt for beaded jewellery and chunky sandals your fave 90s protagonist, Kat Stratford, would love. Bye bye, boring denim looks…
Next up on the agenda is what we like to call the perfect sunbathing-to-sipping-cocktails ensemble. It’s classic, cute and just the sort of look your want to be snapped in for the ‘gram, mojito in hand.
To create said ensemble, you’ll want to layer a timeless black one piece, such as the square-neck one above, with a flowy animal print dress. Take the look to a new level of chic with the addition of Audrey Heburn-esque oversized sunglasses, gold hoop earrings and wedge mules. In case you haven’t caught on, it’s all about statement soles this season.
For our last look, we’re bringing you summer festival vibes. Half because we’re all eagerly awaiting the return of live music, half because we know you’d love a new get-up for your next garden party with the girls.
Here, your swim piece of choice should be a spotlight-stealing bright bikini top which you can colour block with the fashion crowd’s favourites: black cycling shorts. Further add to the cool festival feel with sparkly jewellery and an oversized shirt. Finally, ditch muddy wellies for the fashion-forward alternative: chunky biker boots. Voila, you’re ready to dance the day away in style.
