World Rainforest Day: How we’re growing a better future
To celebrate World Rainforest Day, we’re shining a light on our partnership with Tree-Nation and our forest-friendly materials.
We know that trees are vital in the fight against climate change as they capture Carbon Dioxide (CO₂), with tropical rainforests absorbing roughly 2 billion tonnes of CO₂ each year!
With your help, we’ve planted over 112,000 trees and counting with Tree-Nation, allowing us to offset our own carbon emissions (we’ve pledged to be climate positive by 2040) and create better livelihoods for disadvantaged communities.
In cooperation with Tree-Nation, the Eden Reforestation Project has hired over 200 full-time employees at their Madagascar site (where we've planted over 50,000 trees!) Each worker is given a fair wage, allowing them to send their kids to school and cover any healthcare costs.
The fashion industry is a major consumer of wood-based materials, such as viscose, which can lead to the deforestation of rainforests. This has devastating effects on the ecosystem and the indigenous communities that rely on them.
We’re committed to sourcing 100% lower-impact viscose for all viscose-rich products by April 2024 and ensuring viscose blends are sourced from a Green Shirt Hot Button Supplier (they ensure they don't source from ancient or endangered forests).
Helping you nail this summer’s monochrome trend, all while having a lower environmental impact, we’ve rounded-up our top new-season picks featuring LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose – a fabric made from wood pulp from responsibly managed forests, using 50% less water and 50% less CO₂ emissions during manufacture compared to standard viscose.*
