by Emma Menteath, Editorial Lead

Lucy Mecklenburgh New Look Edit

Despite recent announcements, we're still full steam ahead planning our next night out with the girls, and in honour of dressing up and finally having an excuse to look glam again, we've partnered with one of our long-term favourites, Lucy Mecklenburgh on her very own New Look edit.

Lucy Mecklenburgh, who's life was shared with millions when she stepped into the limelight years ago in the reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex, is now CEO of an online fitness platform and has recently become a mum. As an inspiring and influential woman, we couldn't wait to partner with Lucy Mecklenburgh on our next influencer edit.

Expect colourful smock dresses ideal for brunch dates with the girls, pretty prints that can be dressed up or down and every woman's must-have wardrobe staple: jeans and a nice top.

We spent 10 minutes catching up with Lucy Mecklenburgh to discuss her New Look edit and all things fashion. Here's what she had to say...

How would you describe your style?
"Classic, classy and girly."

Tell us about your edit with New Look, what inspired you to pick the items you did?
"I picked items that I instantly loved but also items that you can get multiple wears in different ways. For example, the cute paisley print co-ord skirt and top I would wear with heels or trainers. I would also wear the top with the wide-leg high-waist jeans. The top would also look great with a metallic pleat skirt to move into your autumn/winter wardrobe. It’s really important to me that we get multiple wears from items in our wardrobe so all of the pieces I chose you can do this with."

What is your favourite piece in the collection and why?
"It's so difficult to pick just one! The A-line red and white check dress I love and see myself living in all summer, but the wide-leg jeans are so flattering, comfortable and a staple in my wardrobe."

What’s something you own too much of in your wardrobe?
"Shoes and bags. I have so many I think I’m a little addicted to them haha."

What is your favourite styling tip/hack?
"Layering to make items of your clothing wearable for all seasons and to make your look more interesting."

What are the 5 must-have items every woman needs in her wardrobe?
"A great pair of well-fitted comfy jeans, metallic heels (they instantly make an outfit more interesting, I think), a leather jacket is a must for me, plain white trainers that go with most outfits (including summer dresses) and, lastly, a dress you just feel super sexy in for nights out."

You’re passionate about fitness, have you ever struggled with body positivity? Do you have any advice for young girls struggling with body positivity and anxiety?
"I think we all go through stages but for me it’s about taking control. Acknowledging how you feel and taking action to make yourself feel better.

For me that would be committing to regular exercise, meeting a friend for brunch, a gossip and giggle and making sure I’m eating a balanced diet. Also communication: tell a friend, partner or family member how you're feeling."

We love seeing the moments you share online of you and your son Roman. Has being a new mum changed your wardrobe or the way you style yourself?
"Yes I have to dress a little more practically as I’m running around after a toddler all day haha. I wear flats a lot more, I tend to stay away from all-white outfits for obvious reasons. But I love getting glammed up for the occasional date night and girly night out still."

Besides your son Roman, what’s your favourite thing about being a mother?
"It changed my perspective on life. You realise you worried about a lot of things before that aren’t really that important. Just your family and friends health and happiness matters."

You’re off out for food with your fiancé Ryan, where are you going and what are you ordering?
"Ohhh we are real foodies! We both love Japanese, Peruvian and Italian. If it’s Japanese, we love Roka in London and we would order miso aubergine, yellowfin tuna sashimi, black cod, rock shrimp and a few yummy cocktails."
