Our #NewLookers on Their Mother Like No Other

From grandmother to mother figure, business queen to gardening goddess, the word ‘mum’ can mean something different to all of us, but if there’s one thing we can agree on, it’s the immense love we have for them – and their killer cups of tea.

With Mother’s Day around the corner (27th March), our #NewLookers share what makes their mums so unbelievably special, from their wonderful words of advice to the fictional character they are impressively similar to (any Donna Sheridan fans out there?).

What does the word ‘mum’ mean to you?
"The word 'mum' means your ultimate bestie/sister! Someone who's always there for you despite everything."

 What’s your favourite memory of your mum?
"Our Mother’s Day afternoon tea and spa days where we get carried away with the Prosecco!"

What piece of clothing would you steal from your mum's wardrobe?
"My mum always borrows my clothes so I’d love to borrow some of hers! If I had to pick one item it would be her new baby-blue bouclé blazer."

Tell us a trait you’ve inherited from your mum.
"Being a perfectionist! My mum always gives 11/10 in everything she does."

If your mum was a TV/film/book character, who would she be and why?
"My mum would be Rebecca Bloomwood from Confessions of a Shopaholic because she's always shopping!"

What's your favourite memory of your mum?
"When I was three years old, we moved to the South of France. Our belongings were in boxes, including my favourite toys and teddies. One day, my mum picked me up early from school and said someone was at home waiting for me. I walked in and my favourite doll was waiting for me that I hadn't seen in weeks. She was all scrubbed up in freshly washed baby clothes looking beautiful. It brought a sense of home to me, the same feeling I get from my mum."

What piece of clothing would you steal from your mum's wardrobe?
"Any of her comfy cardigans. I love my loungewear and she has an incredible collection of cosy clothes."

Mums are always the best at cheffing it up in the kitchen – what's your favourite of her dishes?
"My favourite is a roast dinner. Cannot be beaten."

Tell us a trait you’ve inherited from your mum.
"I've definitely inherited my mum’s confidence –something I’m really grateful to have been brought up with. To always speak up for myself, to always be authentic."

Best piece of advice your mum has ever given you?
"To always look for the silver lining and that everything happens for a reason."

What's your favourite memory of your mum?
"When she’s with her best friend Sylvie and it’s like they're 15 again…laughing and having the best time."

What piece of clothing would you steal from your mum's wardrobe?
"One of her oversized T-shirts."

Tell us a trait you've inherited from your mum?
"Always wanting to help people and a love for music!"

Best piece of advice our mum has ever given you?
"Don’t expect anything and you’ll never be disappointed 🤍."

What’s your favourite memory of your mum?
"When I was little she tried so hard to get us tickets to see the Spice Girls in 1998 and couldn’t, however, she got us tickets to see them when they did their reunion tour in 2019. It was the best night ever, both of us in our Spice Girls tees and glittered up to the eyeballs."

What has your mum taught you?
"That however big the problem, everything will always be alright. She’s always there at the end of the phone."

Tell us a trait you’ve inherited from your mum.
"I’ve definitely inherited my style from mam. She's also a lover of midi dresses just like me."

If your mum was a TV/film/book character, who would she be and why?
"She’s definitely like Molly Weasley from Harry Potter. She’s very loving but also firm 😂."

Mums are always the best at cheffing it up in the kitchen – what's your favourite of her dishes?
"She makes the best lasagna ever. She makes her own cheese sauce to go on the top and it’s just so delicious. Whenever she makes it for big gatherings it’s always the first thing to be finished!"

"Home, biggest cheerleader, best friend."

What piece of clothing would you steal from your mum's wardrobe?
"We literally have the same wardrobe at this point, she borrows everything of mine!"

Tell us a trait you’ve inherited from your mum.
"My mum is the life and soul of any party. I’d like to think she’s given me that trait, for sure."

If your mum was a TV/film/book character, who would she be and why?
"Regina's mum on Mean Girls (but not as boujee). “I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom”😂."

Mums are always the best at cheffing it up in the kitchen – what's your favourite of her dishes?
"Mum's Sunday roasts are unbeaten. There’s actually nothing better than my mum's cooking *chef's kiss*."
