4 Autumn Fashion Trends

It’s official, autumn is just around the corner. And while the new season marks a drop in temperature and shorter days, it also means lots of new autumnal fashion 😍.

Last year, most of us didn’t care for trends 🙅‍♀️. Tracksuits, oversized T-shirts and bundling up in a coat when we actually had to leave the house were as good as it got. This time around, we’re ready for our wardrobes to brim with new-season goodness to show the world what it’s been missing.

Keep reading for the four must-have autumn trends you’re set to see all over your Instagram feed, high street, and, best of all, in your wardrobe.

1. Upper East Side

The beginning of the year saw varsity trends take over our wardrobes. Inspired by our obsession with Princess Diana and binge-watching American teen TV shows, it was the update our loungewear was longing for.

Fast-forward nine months and the trend has had an Upper East Side overhaul. Whether you’re team OG Gossip Girl or team re-boot, the iconic TV show has inspired the glossy revamp. Think statement reds, classic check and gingham prints, tailored separates, must-have miniskirts and ‘90s fur-trim details. XOXO, we can’t wait to see you wearing it 💁‍♀️.

2. Boujee but Cool

Our love of loungewear isn’t going anywhere 🙅‍♀️. And if the likes of Rihanna and influencer @lissyroddy are your go-to style muses then this is the look for you.

In this boujee new-season trend, layers and comfort are your new best friend (but colour is not!). Monochromatic ‘fits are the secret to nailing this look, along with big, oversized puffer jackets and elevated logo tracksuits. But it doesn’t end there, as the beauty of this overly cool trend is that it takes you on nights out, too. From flares to mesh tops, as long as it’s monochrome and comfortable, you’re nailing the look.

3. The New Scandi

Our obsession with Scandi style and the Copenhagen IT crowd continues into autumn – but this season it’s had a little update.

Gone are the blues and yellows of spring, replaced with soft pinks and subtle khaki greens. This new-and-improved Scandi look includes everything we love, from cute check smock dresses to larger-than-life collars and cosy layering pieces – not forgetting some new details, including delicate embroidered details, utility twists and statement check shackets.

For inspiration, look to the likes of blogger Leonie Hanne in her dusky pink mini dress and embroidered jacket, or TV and radio presenter Ashley Roberts in her subtle pink and green ensemble with check longline shacket.

4. Cosy Club

Comfort enthusiasts, this one’s for you. Knitwear and coats are always big news for autumn, but for AW21 it’s like cosy on caffeine. From oversized, longline puffer jackets to teddy fabrics and matching knitwear sets, these styles are so comfy you’ll never want to take them off. What could be better for bundling yourself up for autumnal walks and snuggling up for evenings at home?
